Mollie Hemmingway: The Media’s Handling of Biden is “Like Watching a Family try to Help a Three-Year-Old Win Candyland”

"Watching the press handle Joe Biden is like watching a family try to help a three-year-old win Candyland"

Joe Biden has stumbled his way through almost two weeks of his presidency.

He’s signed a plethora of executive orders, many of which he appears to not even know what they are.

He’s already gone back on his own word in regards to how he’d handle the coronavirus as president, now claiming there is nothing to do that will change the trajectory of the virus.

He’s also only continued the Trump administration’s pre-existing coronavirus plan, rather than implementing his own, after he told Americans he had one.

Luckily for Biden, he has the full backing of the powerful mainstream media, which is of course “honest” and “fair.”

They cover up every gaffe he and his administration makes, and they tell America just how great he is every step of the way.

Mollie Hemmingway of “the Federalist” perhaps best desribes the media’s handling of Biden:

“Watching the press handle Joe Biden is like watching a family try to help a three-year-old win Candyland”

A great example of the point Mollie is making here just came in the form of a CNN article, in which the media outlet finally provided their first real criticism of Joe Biden.

The title of the article claims that Biden made his "first big mistake as president."

The article alleges that Biden made a mistake by not informing West Virgina Senator Joe Manchin before sending Kamala Harris to his state to do an interview pressuring Manchin into supporting their $1.9 trillion Covid-19 stimulus plan.

Here's that article from CNN:

There's a golden rule in politics: Don't mess with a member in his or her home state unless you want trouble.

Which is why it's more than a little perplexing that Vice President Kamala Harris gave an interview to a local West Virginia TV station late last week expressly designed to put pressure on West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin (D) to support the Biden administration's $1.9 trillion Covid-19 stimulus plan.

"To your point in West Virginia, one in seven families is describing their household as being hungry, one in six can't pay their rent, and one in four small businesses are closing permanently or have already closed, so it's a big issue in West Virginia and across the country," Harris told WSAZ. "And that's why the president and I are offering the American Rescue Plan."

Which -- BREAKING NEWS! -- Manchin didn't like.

"I saw [the interview], I couldn't believe it. No one called me [about it]," Manchin told WSAZ over the weekend. "We're going to try to find a bipartisan pathway forward, but we need to work together. That's not a way of working together."

(Harris, it's worth noting, also did an interview with a local station in Arizona to pressure Sen. Kyrsten Sinema on the same bill, according to Punchbowl News.)

Made aware of Manchin's annoyance, the White House reached out to the West Virginia Democrat over the weekend to smooth the waters, according to CNN's Manu Raju. It's unclear whether the outreach calmed Manchin down.

"We've been in touch with Sen. Manchin, as we have been for many weeks and will continue to be moving forward," White House press secretary Jen Psaki said on Monday. Psaki declined to say on Monday whether Harris' interview was designed specifically to apply pressure on Manchin.

Regardless, it's a weird, rookie mistake for this administration to make. Both Biden and Harris spent time in the Senate and should understand how a move like this would be perceived by Manchin -- as a not-at-all-subtle threat for him to get in line (or else.)

That urging is the sort of thing that works far better in a phone call -- or a White House meeting. No senator is going to like the vice president (of their own party!) doing an interview with a local news station in their state to say that this piece of legislation that they are unsure about is actually really, really good thing for their state. Not one.

The end of the article describes the Biden administration's error as a "beginner's mistake."

Joe Biden has been in politics for almost 50 years...

There is no room for beginner's mistakes from 50 year politicians.

So what was CNN's biggest "criticism" of Joe Biden previously?..

Is Joe Biden Making the News Boring Again?

Joe Biden can "walk on water" according to many U.S. media outlets.

Compare the media's coverage of Biden to that of President Donald Trump.

here's some examples from Fox News:

President Biden’s media coverage at the beginning of his presidency starkly contrasts with his predecessor President Trump, Fox News contributor Joe Concha said on Thursday.

"I went back and watched some of the clips from 2017 when President Trump was inaugurated and it was called dark, it was called dystopian, it was called divisive. Certainly, a contrast between the two inaugurations," Concha told "Fox & Friends."

Media outlets came under fire from even mainstream outlets for not hiding their enthusiasm for the advent of the Biden administration.

CNN pundit-turned-White House press secretary Jen Psaki also held her first press briefing on Wednesday and the mostly friendly questions were a stark contrast to the way media members treated the Trump administration's first event.

Psaki left CNN to take a gig as a senior adviser for the Biden-Harris transition team and was later named press secretary. The first question she faced was swiftly mocked as a "softball" on social media when Associated Press reporter Zeke Miller asked, "Do you see yourself--your primary role as promoting the interest of the president, or are you there to provide us the unvarnished truth so that we can share that with the American people?"

The media's goal is clear:

Prop up Joe Biden as a harmless, boring, normal, everyday kind of president, while he quietly pushes the most extreme liberal agenda of all time.
