The entire case against Michael Flynn reaked of corruption from the start.
It's public knowledge at this point that officials at the FBI had it out for Flynn.
Now, we may have a deeper understanding as to why that was the case.
According to Flynn's attorney, Sidney Powell, Flynn planned to audit then CIA Director John Brennan's handling of funds.
Here's the direct report from Lifezette with details on the matter:
Sidney Powell, attorney for retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, said her client, in his duties as the White House national security adviser, was prepared to “audit” the U.S. intelligence community.
That, according to the former federal prosecutor, is partly why federal agents “set up” Flynn.
Powell, who took over Flynn’s defense last summer, told the “Vickie McKenna Show” on 1310 WIBA Madison that her client was “totally set up” because he threatened to expose wrongdoing by top intelligence officials in the Obama administration.
“He was going to audit the intel agencies because he knew about the billions Brennan and company were running off the books,” Powell said, referring to former CIA Director John Brennan.
Flynn was picked by former President Barack Obama to serve as director of the Defense Intelligence Agency in 2012, but he was pushed out of the position after clashing with Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and others.
He retired from the Army in 2014, a year before his stint was supposed to end.
In his 2016 book, “The Field of the Fight: How We Can Win the Global War Against Radical Islam and Its Allies,” Flynn wrote, “I was fired as the director of the Defense Intelligence Agency after telling a congressional committee that we were not as safe as we had been a few years back.”
The future Trump national security adviser was openly critical of the intelligence community prior to joining Trump’s campaign as a foreign policy adviser in February 2016.
“They’ve lost sight of who they actually work for,” Flynn said of the CIA to The New York Times in October 2015.
“They work for the American people. They don’t work for the president of the United States… It’s become a very political organization.”
Clearly, the Deep State wanted to use Flynn to try to kick off this whole “Russia collusion” nonsense.
Flynn tried to do the right thing and what did the Deep State do?
They came after him with full force.
As if the situation couldn't get fishier, the New York Post reports that Joe Biden personally raised the idea of investigating Flynn for potentially violating the Logan Act:
Former Vice President Joe Biden appears to have “personally raised the idea” of investigating Michael Flynn for potentially having violated the obscure Logan Act during his phone calls with then-Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak, according to newly filed court papers Wednesday.
The previously sealed document also says that former President Barack Obama told top members of his administration that “the right people” should investigate Flynn.
But then-FBI Director James Comey acknowledged during the meeting — which also involved Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates and possibly national security adviser Susan Rice — that Flynn’s conversations with Kislyak “appear legit,” according to the Washington, DC, federal court filing by Flynn’s defense lawyers.
The revelations are contained in handwritten notes prepared by disgraced ex-FBI Agent Peter Strzok that Flynn’s lawyers called “stunning and exculpatory evidence” in the government’s since-abandoned case against President Trump’s former national security adviser.
A partially blacked-out copy of Strzok’s notes is attached to the filing and includes a mention that appears to say: “VP: ‘Logan Act.'”
“According to Strzok’s notes, it appears that Vice President Biden personally raised the idea of the Logan Act,” defense lawyers Jesse Binnall and Sidney Powell wrote.
”That became an admitted pretext to investigate General Flynn.”
The revelation contradicts Biden’s claim of total ignorance regarding the Flynn probe when he was vice president, which he was asked about during a May 12 interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos.
“I know nothing about those moves to investigate Michael Flynn,” he said at the time.
Biden later claimed he misunderstood the question, adding, “I was aware that there was — that they asked for an investigation, but that’s all I know about it, and I don’t think anything else.”
The Logan Act, which dates to 1799, bars unauthorized Americans from engaging in “any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government.”
If these sorts of actions were business as usual for the Obama administration, then it's only the right thing that higher courts demanded the case against Flynn be dropped.
Senator Lindsey Graham appeared on Fox News to explain why the entire Flynn case was ridiculous from the start:
