Trump Calls For Mass Murderers To Face The Death Penalty

President Trump, who has responded to blame by Dems that he was a contributor to the shootings that took place in Texas and Ohio over the weekend, by stating instead that it was mainstream media’s fake news and divisive narrative that drove the shooters – one of which was a proud liberal – to unleash pent-up rage through the mass murders, has also called upon the DOJ to write legislation to force such killers to be punished through swift execution!

“Mental illness and hatred pulls the trigger, not the gun,” President Trump declared during a press conference while announcing that he is going to be reforming mental health laws and calling for “red flag laws” in response to the recent shootings before also proclaiming,

“Today, I’m also directing the Department of Justice to propose legislation ensuring those that commit hate crimes and mass murders face the death penalty and that this capital punishment be delivered quickly, decisively and without years of unnecessary delay.”

BBC has more details on Trump's response to the mass shootings:

President Donald Trump has condemned hatred and white supremacy in a public address following mass shootings that left 31 dead in Texas and Ohio.

He called for mental health gun control reforms, the death penalty for those who commit mass murder and more bi-partisan co-operation over gun laws.

"Mental illness and hate pull the trigger, not the gun," Mr Trump said, speaking at the White House on Monday.

He did not express support for gun control measures proposed in Congress.

"In one voice, our nation must condemn racism, bigotry and white supremacy," Mr Trump said on Monday. "These sinister ideologies must be defeated. Hate has no place in America."

His comments came shortly before the suspect in the El Paso, Texas, shooting was charged with capital murder. El Paso police also confirmed on Monday that two more victims died in hospital, raising the Texas death toll to 22.

The president outlined a number of policies, including more co-operation between government agencies and social media companies, changes to mental health laws as well as ending the "glorification of violence" in American culture.

He called for red flag laws that would allow law enforcement authorities to take away weapons from individuals believed to be a threat to themselves or others.

Mr Trump said government agencies must work together and identify individuals who may commit violent acts, prevent their access to firearms and also suggested involuntary confinement as a way to stop potential attackers.

He also said he directed the justice department to propose legislation to ensure those who commit hate crimes and mass murders face the death penalty.

Townhall also commented:

Speaking from the White House Monday morning with Vice President Mike Pence by his side, President Donald Trump addressed the nation and responded to two mass shootings that took place over the weekend. Dozens of people were killed and severely wounded in Dayton, Ohio and El Paso, Texas.

"These barbaric slaughters are an assault upon our communities, an attack on our nation and a crime against all humanity. We are outraged by this monstrous evil, the cruelty, the malice, bloodshed and the terror. Our hearts are shattered for every family whose parents, children, husbands and wives were ripped from their arms and their lives. America weeps for the fallen. We are a loving nation and our children are entitled to grow up in a just, peaceful and loving society," Trump said, calling law enforcement who responded to the shootings American heroes. "Together we lock arms to shoulder the grief. We ask God in heaven to ease the anguish of those who suffer and we vow to act with urgent resolve."

"In one voice our nation must condemn racism, bigotry and white supremacy," he continued. "These sinister ideologies must be defeated. Hate has no place in America."

President Trump called for action to solve mass shootings and urged Congress to put partisanship aside to come up with solutions.

"Now is the time to set destructive partisanship aside," Trump said. "Our future is in our control. America will always rise to the challenge....it is not up to mentally ill monsters, it is up to us."
